Freight Shed
1876
1001 S 15th St, Philadelphia, PA 19146
The Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad Freight Shed is a historic Gothic Revival train shed dating to 1876. Situated at 15th and Carpenter Streets in South Philadelphia, near Broad Street, the structure was carefully restored and incorporated into the Lincoln Square mixed-use development. It is one of the few remaining train sheds in the world featuring the distinctive Fink truss system, whose design has often been compared to the skeleton of a humpback whale.
