Longwood Gardens Fountain
1931
1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348
The fountains at Longwood Gardens were conceived by founder Pierre S. du Pont, who drew inspiration from European villas and the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. The Main Fountain Garden is considered the highlight of Longwood Gardens. Designed by du Pont to compete with Europe’s finest water displays, this 5-acre attraction includes canals, large basins, and pump systems that were originally driven by Worthington pumps installed in 1931.
