Fisher Fine Arts Library

1890

220 South 34th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104

The Fisher Fine Arts Library served as the main library of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia from 1891 until 1962. Designed by architect Frank Furness, the striking Venetian Gothic structure combines red sandstone, brick, and terra cotta in a design that feels both like a fortress and a cathedral. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and was later designated a National Historic Landmark in 1985.
